SPEAKER_02: How are you?
SPEAKER_02: Hello, welcome, welcome, welcome.
SPEAKER_02: Welcome, distracted Diva.
SPEAKER_02: Yes.
SPEAKER_02: Um today.
SPEAKER_02: Today we are back from the Fourth of July weekend.
SPEAKER_02: Hope everyone had a safe and fun time with family and friends.
SPEAKER_02: Yes.
SPEAKER_02: Happy birthday, America.
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: Yes.
SPEAKER_01: Happy Fourth of July, 250 years.
SPEAKER_01: Blah blah blah.
SPEAKER_01: Yes.
SPEAKER_00: Long time around.
SPEAKER_01: Yes.
SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
SPEAKER_00: I was actually thinking, like, it's really weird that America's only 250 years old, though.
SPEAKER_00: Like only, because it feels like the last 50 or so years that I've been here have been like 500 years.
SPEAKER_02: And fun fact, that's not all America.
SPEAKER_02: Some places are younger than 250.
SPEAKER_02: So if you know, you know.
SPEAKER_00: True.
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's true.
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
SPEAKER_02: Well, right.
SPEAKER_02: What do we have this week?
SPEAKER_00: I hope my microphone's not picking that up, but I have a French bulldog and he's sitting well.
SPEAKER_00: It's not.
SPEAKER_01: He's so you can hear them.
SPEAKER_01: You can hear him.
SPEAKER_01: I can't hear him.
SPEAKER_01: Like when you said that before, I couldn't hear him before either.
SPEAKER_01: I can't hear them.
SPEAKER_00: Well, if anybody hears it and you have French bulldogs or you have animals, then you can feel my pain.
SPEAKER_00: But they're out there like begging to get in.
SPEAKER_00: But if I let them in, they cause nothing but trouble.
SPEAKER_00: So they're just a big they're they're a bigger distraction than this.
SPEAKER_00: Divas than us divas?
SPEAKER_00: Than we are.
SPEAKER_00: They're they're like Diva times two.
SPEAKER_00: Distracted Diva uh double.
SPEAKER_00: D D anyway.
SPEAKER_00: D D.
SPEAKER_00: So um I was Triple D.
SPEAKER_00: Yes, they're they're quadruple D's.
SPEAKER_00: Um uh I was talking to you guys about um this week issuing challenges to each other and to our listeners.
SPEAKER_00: Um, and my challenge is going to be to uh so what we're gonna do is we're gonna issue challenges, each of us, and we're each gonna take one from each other.
SPEAKER_00: And mine came from yesterday when I was working outside in my garden and stuff, and I'd put my phone down in the house to charge.
SPEAKER_00: And at one point I wanted to go get it, but I did it.
SPEAKER_00: I was gonna go get it, I was gonna plug it in outside, and I was gonna turn on the Bluetooth and stuff, but I decided just to leave it in the house, and it turned into like three or four hours that I ended up putting my phone down.
SPEAKER_00: So that's my challenge.
SPEAKER_00: My challenge is sometime um this week between our filming today and next Sunday, like put your phone down for let's say, let's give it a time limit of three hours, and like no no phone, no TV, no Bluetooth speaker, just you know, disconnect for three hours.
SPEAKER_00: Like, we are all old enough to remember a time when we didn't have these phones and things and we were disconnected.
SPEAKER_00: So, my challenge to you is to give yourself three hours totally disconnected, and you can't be like sleeping, that doesn't count.
SPEAKER_00: Like three hours, you're up and around and with it, and you're gonna go stop it.
SPEAKER_00: You're gonna leave that phone alone, not check it, nothing.
SPEAKER_00: So that's my challenge if anyone wants to accept it.
SPEAKER_00: And then let's hear what your challenges are, and then we'll see who wants to take each of those challenges.
SPEAKER_01: Okay, my challenge is to clean the refrigerator out.
SPEAKER_01: Um just take everything out, clean everything from top to bottom and put it back or throw it away.
SPEAKER_01: You'll be surprised at the things that you find.
SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, this is where this has been.
SPEAKER_01: Where?
SPEAKER_01: I go in the refrigerator every day, and there's stuff in there that I'm like, whoa.
SPEAKER_01: So cleaning out the refrigerator to me is a not it's not a challenge for me, but it's a challenge for it, is a challenge because as much as you shop and you put stuff in, remember how much you're taking out.
SPEAKER_01: You're putting stuff in and you're not taking anything out.
SPEAKER_01: So that's a challenge to clean the refrigerator from top to bottom, shelves and all, walls, everything.
SPEAKER_01: Each shelves, because mostly all the refrigerators, uh the pieces come out.
SPEAKER_01: You just pick them out, pick them up, pick them out, and wash them.
SPEAKER_01: All right.
SPEAKER_01: Wait, and don't forget the outside of the refrigerator because I feel like uh especially everybody has those um chrome refrigerators, and even if you don't have kids, you're still touching it, you're still doing these things.
SPEAKER_01: And I feel like those little candles that you that you place on your refrigerator that you open the door with instead of using, those things are have got to be gross.
SPEAKER_01: I feel like the biggest challenge is to take them off and wash them.
SPEAKER_01: You have to do you, you would have to whether you clean your refrigerator once a week or twice a week, you still have to wash those things because imagine all the food that's on your hand that's going on that true.
SPEAKER_00: I was taking them off, but mine has like these like cups under it.
SPEAKER_00: I don't have handles, so still it's something you don't think about wiping.
SPEAKER_00: I wipe the refrigerator down a lot, but like I don't think about wiping the handle part where your fingers go up in there, but you're right, because you always are touching food and going in there.
SPEAKER_02: Okay, mine's is less shopping for one week.
SPEAKER_02: Do no new shopping of items, whether it's if you already have groceries, do not buy more to stuff in or clothing or makeup or anything.
SPEAKER_02: One week, guys, just one week, and I'm talking to myself.
SPEAKER_02: I'm talking to myself, just one week, girl.
SPEAKER_00: One week, so for one week, don't buy anything new.
SPEAKER_00: Like that's not a necessity, like food or something, right?
SPEAKER_00: Right, okay, nothing that's not necessary.
SPEAKER_01: I have to do that, so so can we pick?
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so we're each gonna take each of uh one of each person's challenge, and then next week we'll talk about our challenge, how it went, if we actually did it, you know, if we feel we have to tell the truth too.
SPEAKER_00: Yes, I want our listeners to um, you know, comment what challenge you might try, or maybe a new maybe you just want to make your own up, you know.
SPEAKER_00: Right.
SPEAKER_00: But like just like give it an honest shot, you know, are you gonna do it?
SPEAKER_00: Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna take Becky's because I am a shopperholic.
SPEAKER_01: It's the worst thing in life, and I have been told at times if you don't stop, please.
SPEAKER_01: I'll take Mona's.
SPEAKER_00: Oh, all right.
SPEAKER_00: Well, I'll take the fridge challenge, which I kind of got a little head start on it today, because I did throw out some leftovers and you know, did a bunch of dishes, so I got a little head start on it.
SPEAKER_00: Oh watch.
SPEAKER_00: I three off for me.
SPEAKER_00: But I definitely um well, you want to hear something weird?
SPEAKER_00: This is probably weird, maybe TMI.
SPEAKER_00: But one of the things that's in my refrigerator, not my refrigerator, not it's in my freezer.
SPEAKER_00: Y'all are gonna your jaws are gonna drop.
SPEAKER_00: I have a dead hummingbird in my freezer, in a baggie.
SPEAKER_00: He he I found them on my back porch.
SPEAKER_00: And what were you gonna do with him?
SPEAKER_00: Is it in the is it in the refrigerator in the garage or is it in one in the house?
SPEAKER_00: Is it the freezer in the house in a baggie?
SPEAKER_02: You were gonna cook that, weren't you?
SPEAKER_00: No, no, no.
SPEAKER_00: I'm joking.
SPEAKER_00: But I'm thinking like, look, I like ever since like I lost Kaylee, I've got extra like weird about critters, like even the littlest critters, like found a spider in the house today, and I caught it with paper towel to let it outside.
SPEAKER_00: Okay, like I don't want to kill anything, except for flies.
SPEAKER_00: I can't stand flies anyway.
SPEAKER_00: Um, so this little hummingbird was on my back porch, and I felt so bad for it.
SPEAKER_00: So I picked them up and put them in a baggie.
SPEAKER_00: And at the time I was going somewhere, so I didn't have a chance.
SPEAKER_00: I wanted to bury them, you know.
SPEAKER_00: Oh, I was gonna put them out in my garden.
SPEAKER_00: And you forgot about that bird.
SPEAKER_00: What am I gonna do?
SPEAKER_00: So I put them in the freezer in a baggie.
SPEAKER_00: Woo! And we like I don't think about it because I don't open the freezer much because like we have an ice machine and stuff, right?
SPEAKER_00: And so, like today I went in there and I was like, holy crap, this bird is still in my freezer.
SPEAKER_00: And I literally worked in the garden yesterday, so I could have buried him in the garden and he could have become part of the garden.
SPEAKER_00: But anyway, I told you your jaws are gonna drop.
SPEAKER_00: My jaws dropped.
SPEAKER_00: So I think um the refrigerator challenge is a good one for me.
SPEAKER_02: Awesome.
SPEAKER_01: Yes, I do too.
SPEAKER_02: I think I could do the three-hour challenge, I think it's very doable verse basis on what I gotta do this week anyway.
SPEAKER_02: So that'll be great.
SPEAKER_00: So it'll be interesting to hear like what do you do with that time, right?
SPEAKER_01: It's not necessarily for me not to shop.
SPEAKER_01: No, no, I gotta order the gorilla.
SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
SPEAKER_01: I was just thinking about when we finish here, I'm going to the store.
SPEAKER_01: For real.
SPEAKER_00: Wait, when does it start?
SPEAKER_00: Tomorrow?
SPEAKER_00: Right.
SPEAKER_00: I think it should start when the podcast ends today.
SPEAKER_00: Woo! I mean, the refrigerator.
SPEAKER_00: Well, the refrigerator's gonna be hard for me to do.
SPEAKER_00: Well, maybe actually, it's gonna be hard for me to do.
SPEAKER_00: I work all week, so it's gonna be hard, but I'll I'm gonna give it my best shot.
SPEAKER_00: I guess I could even work on a little bit at a time, you know, even if I don't do it all at once.
SPEAKER_02: So might as well be easy.
SPEAKER_00: I gotta clear out the garage anyhow.
SPEAKER_01: So oh, I always I feel like I I'm I'm a creature of habit as far as the refrigerator is concerned.
SPEAKER_01: I do every two weeks, I take the shelves out, I do this, I do that, because I'm always cooking something.
SPEAKER_01: And I cook like challenging stuff too.
SPEAKER_01: So I usually have stuff all over the place.
SPEAKER_01: Even though I clean as I go, I still have stuff because I'm like, oh, I gotta put this in it, oh, I gotta put that in it.
SPEAKER_01: Oh, I have something frozen, I gotta take it out, I gotta do this.
SPEAKER_01: Oh, I need to go to the store because I don't have any green peppers left.
SPEAKER_01: I thought I had some, uh, so I'm always doing something.
SPEAKER_01: So I can't have a real challenge with I can't go shopping this.
SPEAKER_00: You're gonna have yeah, you're gonna have a real challenge with uh no shopping unless it's like food or necessities.
SPEAKER_01: I'm so glad I got my bourbon right there.
SPEAKER_01: I have my chase out.
SPEAKER_01: I have one.
SPEAKER_01: Oh, we moved on up.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01: I've been doing it for how long now?
SPEAKER_01: It's been like a long time.
SPEAKER_01: Probably like a year, two years now.
SPEAKER_01: Okay, I've been doing bourbon now.
SPEAKER_01: I'm not saying that I like if I go somewhere and they don't have the kind of bourbon I like, like I like Buffalo Trace.
SPEAKER_02: I see Oh, I love Buffalo Trace, yeah.
SPEAKER_01: Right.
SPEAKER_01: I seem to love Tin Cup because I've got about 15 of these.
SPEAKER_01: Those are good.
SPEAKER_01: I seem to love them.
SPEAKER_01: Like Becky, I'm not kidding.
SPEAKER_01: One, two, three, four, five.
SPEAKER_01: And I got a whole nother look, and I got a whole nother one.
SPEAKER_01: I should be Oh my god, yeah, but I have more.
SPEAKER_02: Okay, I seem to love you and your shopping.
SPEAKER_02: There we go.
SPEAKER_02: Listen, yes.
SPEAKER_01: They must have been on the sale sale because today today's Monday.
SPEAKER_01: I've just bought some Saturday.
SPEAKER_00: We have some good challenges then.
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, very good.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and shopping.
SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, oh my god.
SPEAKER_01: I don't even know.
SPEAKER_01: I'm I don't even know what I'm gonna do.
SPEAKER_01: The store's popping out and be like, what the hell is wrong with you?
SPEAKER_01: It doesn't count the stuff that's already in Amazon that's coming, right?
SPEAKER_01: Oh, that that counts.
SPEAKER_01: No, I already bought it.
SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, you already bought it, yeah.
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, all right, yeah.
SPEAKER_02: I better not see on social, nothing, nothing, nothing.
SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna try to be good with that because I'm gonna try mine too.
SPEAKER_02: It's a little I could I could always get this.
SPEAKER_02: Is it a day?
SPEAKER_02: It's only one day, right?
SPEAKER_02: No, it's a week, girl.
SPEAKER_02: All right, so now we got all that packed down.
SPEAKER_02: Now we all know.
SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna have to have post-it notes in the bathroom, on the door, when I go out the door, on the patio door, on the refrigerator.
SPEAKER_01: When I look at my keys, I'm gonna have to say no, I'm in the car, no shopping.
SPEAKER_01: So I'm just gonna have to go for a ride.
SPEAKER_00: Right.
SPEAKER_00: Only necessities.
SPEAKER_01: But I don't have it, I don't have to do necessities because I have this my refrigerator is full to the bottom.
SPEAKER_01: I can't put anything else in this freezer.
SPEAKER_01: That's how much stuff I can't put anything else in this freezer.
SPEAKER_02: I have to I might be doing two challenges because yeah, mine's too.
SPEAKER_02: It's crazy.
SPEAKER_01: I have to put it in the outdoor freezer.
SPEAKER_02: Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00: Same.
SPEAKER_00: Well, like I said, that um that phone thing just kind of came to my head, I guess organically, because I like I said, just put my phone down and I thought about like I said, one thing led to another that got me out working in the garden, and uh the sun was starting to go down, and I was almost like it was still kind of hot, and I was almost like, I'm gonna go in the house for about an hour and then come back out.
SPEAKER_00: And then I was like, No, I just started kind of pulling weeds, and it had rained the day before, so that it was the weeds were pulling up easy.
SPEAKER_00: Yes.
SPEAKER_00: And and of course it's 4th of July, and look, I'm old, I didn't have plans, so it's like whatever.
SPEAKER_00: I could see our the fireworks from our house, like you know, down in our little town going off and hear the neighbors and all that stuff.
SPEAKER_00: I'm like, that's enough for me.
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so so next thing I know, it was like probably four or five o'clock that I started, and probably about eight or nine o'clock by the time I came in, and never touched my phone.
SPEAKER_00: And I was like, you know, it kind of feels good to just put it down and forget about it for a while.
SPEAKER_00: So that's why that made me think of that.
SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, let's try some little challenges that we can issue to ourselves and maybe our listeners want to try, and um, you know, just see what we can learn from ourselves by doing it.
SPEAKER_01: Like when I go outside in the yard and work, I don't um I don't have my phone because yesterday was it yeah, yesterday, early yesterday, like about eight or nine o'clock, I was like, uh let's go out there and get this stuff up because weeds, those weeds, um, just cleaning up this one area that had stuff in it for no reason, and it's and it's done.
SPEAKER_01: And I and of course, you can't have your phone while you're digging.
SPEAKER_01: And you know how to do this.
SPEAKER_01: I have my little neck thing on, had my little cooling fan around my neck, whatever.
SPEAKER_01: But I was actually doing the weeds, picking them up, hitting them with the shovel, and they were coming right up.
SPEAKER_01: So I was like, Oh, I don't even have to bend down and pick up, I can just move it, you know, move them until I get to a pile and then put them in the you know, the garbage thing that they pick up.
SPEAKER_01: So yesterday, probably for about from nine o'clock until maybe I want to say maybe four, I wasn't on the phone at all.
SPEAKER_01: Or maybe ten o'clock from till four, I wasn't on the phone.
SPEAKER_00: Normally I would even if I'm not on my phone, I would at least have it out there close by.
SPEAKER_00: And I would always have at least music on.
SPEAKER_00: But yesterday I was like just letting hearing nature, hearing fireworks, hearing the cars roll by, you know, just just hearing myself pulling the weeds, just living in the moment and no distractions, you know.
SPEAKER_00: I mean, um, and it's been a while since I've done that, so that's why it just made me think that it would be cool to to you know bring it up and see what you all thought about doing you you use yours for your job for your um business.
SPEAKER_01: I do.
SPEAKER_01: So you have to be on your phone, yeah.
SPEAKER_02: So that's kind of but I could do three hours though.
SPEAKER_02: I could do three hours.
SPEAKER_01: But I'm saying non-business, right?
SPEAKER_01: Do three hour non-business because you have to have to be on your phone, you have to be on your phone, right?
SPEAKER_01: So so yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_01: All right, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01: That's that would be so hard for me because I my sister said you're the selfie clean, and I was thinking, no, I'm not, but then I started looking, I was like, Oh my god, I am jeez.
SPEAKER_00: Um I got into watching like these videos of the of people doing like uh day one or day 10 of like doing like little projects to you know make because stuff like you said accumulates for no reason.
SPEAKER_00: It's like you have this stuff, what am I doing with it?
SPEAKER_00: I or I've stored it away and I forget about it, or I go buy more of it because I didn't know that I stored it away somewhere, and so it's like I'm just trying to like all the time minimize that's what I'm doing, clutter in my life and in my brain, right?
SPEAKER_00: It's like why like I feel like society has just made us think that we need so much stuff, yeah.
SPEAKER_00: We don't need we don't no, we don't need it.
SPEAKER_00: What do we need?
SPEAKER_00: We need food, water, or roof over our head.
SPEAKER_00: I mean, we don't need air conditioning, but uh we love it, you know.
SPEAKER_00: That's a bullshit.
SPEAKER_00: I know I need it.
SPEAKER_02: We is a lot of people, that's what I we is too many people, but we is not me.
SPEAKER_00: It's not me.
SPEAKER_00: No, y'all I work out the heat, so I've been surviving it.
SPEAKER_00: I yeah.
SPEAKER_02: Well, would you look like a fish out of water out here, Florida girl?
SPEAKER_01: But what the starter is getting rid of stuff, I find that the older I get, the easier it is for me to get rid of it.
SPEAKER_01: Walter do that.
SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
SPEAKER_01: I used to think everybody had to keep everything.
SPEAKER_01: I just call him a hoarder.
SPEAKER_01: I'm like, dude, right.
SPEAKER_01: You got you have a teapot top.
SPEAKER_01: Why do you need that?
SPEAKER_01: Well, just in case, just in case.
SPEAKER_01: Just guess what?
SPEAKER_01: You don't even drink tea like that.
SPEAKER_01: Like, you don't even drink tea.
SPEAKER_01: Oh man, he had a bunch of cups and plates and stuff, and I was like, give me the damn thing.
SPEAKER_01: Just because no, I went like this.
SPEAKER_01: Give me the damn box.
SPEAKER_01: He's like, You're gonna throw that away.
SPEAKER_01: I was like, watch me.
SPEAKER_01: I picked the damn box up.
SPEAKER_01: Guess what?
SPEAKER_01: All the box was wet because it had been sitting out there.
SPEAKER_02: You have to do an intervention.
SPEAKER_01: So the the box, all the stuff came out the box.
SPEAKER_01: I picked it up and threw it in the garbage.
SPEAKER_01: I started tossing it like this, and he's like he's having a fit because he's like, What are you doing?
SPEAKER_01: Somebody can use it.
SPEAKER_01: I said, Well, somebody don't live here.
SPEAKER_01: You do.
SPEAKER_01: I'm getting rid of this stuff.
SPEAKER_01: So finally he said, Okay, I I am a hoarder.
SPEAKER_02: I was like, You think you don't even notice it sometimes because you just think of paving for later, but later comes way later.
SPEAKER_01: That's what I told him.
SPEAKER_01: Listen, I'm I I'm all about repurposing stuff.
SPEAKER_01: So we have these pictures, he has these big pictures, and I said, Let's put them here, these these things.
SPEAKER_01: You're building a closed-in patio, and you have some open shelves that need to be covered.
SPEAKER_01: So instead of you buying some wood, let's use the picture things, and you know how to decorate it, it's already framed and it fits perfectly in a spot, and all you gotta do is drill here, here, all of them.
SPEAKER_00: Altar is handy, yeah.
SPEAKER_00: So, I mean, even my dad, you know, had we I've helped my mom clean since he's passed the last couple years, um, a lot of stuff out of the barn and stuff, but he was the type of man that he could save it because he could actually do stuff with it.
SPEAKER_00: Right, but he wasn't a hoarder, I mean he had a lot of it.
SPEAKER_00: But you have to get to it like soon after.
SPEAKER_00: But I mean, even like working on my garden and getting the weeds out, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_00: Like the weeds in my mind are something that I always know I need to do.
SPEAKER_00: So in my back of my mind, it's clutter or it's something that I know I need to do.
SPEAKER_00: So it's like sometimes you just feel like you can't fully relax, like when it's time to relax, because you always know you got stuff to do, right?
SPEAKER_00: So even like cutting weeds can be a way of decluttering.
SPEAKER_01: Okay, hold on.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, my daughter came here and she there's a there's a tree that was it was like a this big old tree that probably been here for like 60, 70 years, and Walter and his son cut it down.
SPEAKER_01: So the trees cut down, but there's a stump still there, and inside the stump are these purple flowers like like like um the color of uh uh eggplant.
SPEAKER_01: They just grow, they just grow.
SPEAKER_01: I mean abundance of them.
SPEAKER_01: So we're not I'm not getting rid of those.
SPEAKER_01: And then these lilac flowers grow, keeping those there.
SPEAKER_01: I don't know where they came from, but they come every year.
SPEAKER_01: But the weeds were there.
SPEAKER_01: So my daughter, she and she's vegan, she's not just vegetarian.
SPEAKER_01: She said, Don't worry about the weeds, I got it.
SPEAKER_01: And I was thinking, okay, whatever, because they're gonna come back.
SPEAKER_01: Because there are a lot of people have done it and they haven't come back.
SPEAKER_01: I'm not kidding.
SPEAKER_01: And it's been since February when I had my stroke.
SPEAKER_01: February, they're not back.
SPEAKER_01: So I called her, I was like, What the hell did you use?
SPEAKER_01: Because I need that, because since February, not one weed has come back in that stump area.
SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's awesome! And you can actually see the flowers are beautiful.
SPEAKER_01: Now I can actually see the flowers and not the flowers and the weeds.
SPEAKER_01: The flowers are just beautiful.
SPEAKER_01: So I told her, and she said, You'll be surprised.
SPEAKER_01: I think she said it was Epsom salt, vinegar, and dawn.
SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, I've heard of that mix.
SPEAKER_01: She said, What you have to do, and there's something else I'm not thinking about.
SPEAKER_00: She said, that I've read before.
SPEAKER_01: She said, something you have to do.
SPEAKER_01: She said, you have to dig the read up read up from the base or wherever it's from and spray and spray that in there.
SPEAKER_01: And then it it'll be after after you dig all the read.
SPEAKER_01: She said, spray that in.
SPEAKER_01: Not she said, not saturated, just spray it in there and they won't come back.
SPEAKER_01: And I was thinking, yeah, right.
SPEAKER_01: I'm not kidding.
SPEAKER_01: I haven't seen one.
SPEAKER_01: Not one.
SPEAKER_02: That's amazing.
SPEAKER_01: And but the thing is, the weeds are the weeds outside of it that was there that we never paid attention to.
SPEAKER_01: The weeds outside of that planted because she decorated in bricks or whatever it is out there, the weeds outside of it are coming all over the place.
SPEAKER_01: But they're not going in there.
SPEAKER_02: So I was like, oh there's some tips right there then.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: She even made us some buck spray.
SPEAKER_01: There's the weed.
SPEAKER_01: I remember what it is.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: I made some, she made some bug spray.
SPEAKER_01: So and he gets bit all the time.
SPEAKER_01: And he is, you know, he's always making jokes.
SPEAKER_01: It's because of black.
SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, yes, it is.
SPEAKER_01: So but it they don't bite me at all.
SPEAKER_01: I spray that stuff on, and then I and she wrote it on the bottle, and it's out there.
SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna go get it, but I will have that available next time, you know, next time when we figure out the challenge, I will have the the re the weed killer and the bug spray that she that she uses.
SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, because she has animals, she loves she loves cats.
SPEAKER_02: And if there's anyone else out there that has tips for these type of things or anything around the house, yes, please write us and comment or share your thoughts.
SPEAKER_01: Yes, absolutely.
SPEAKER_01: And don't forget to subscribe, like, share, and comment and tell your friends.
SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
SPEAKER_01: Yes, definitely.
SPEAKER_00: Yep, yeah.
SPEAKER_00: So um moving on.
SPEAKER_00: Well, I was gonna say, you know, also it's tick season and all this, like oh yeah, the one that runs behind you.
SPEAKER_02: I heard there's one that runs.
SPEAKER_02: There's one that runs behind you.
SPEAKER_02: There's one that goes up to you.
SPEAKER_02: You know how tick's supposed to be run off.
SPEAKER_02: There's one out there that like bites you and runs on on you instead of running away.
SPEAKER_02: It has like a god on it.
SPEAKER_00: You haven't heard about that?
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, I don't have trees like that, so I'm I'm glad.
SPEAKER_00: Well, they're bad in Tennessee.
SPEAKER_00: We've had them on the dogs a couple times, and we use the once-a-month stuff from the vet and all that stuff, and still had.
SPEAKER_00: I mean, they're not like I think whatever we put on them is working because the ticks don't look like they're doing very well.
SPEAKER_00: But anyway, Savannah has saying that um cedar wood oil is supposed to be.
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I was gonna say that oils.
SPEAKER_00: Oils are good essential oils, yeah.
SPEAKER_00: Yep, yep.
SPEAKER_00: We're all three trying to always make um things more uh natural, right?
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I do that a lot.
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I watched that uh Netflix documentary on um the plastic detox.
SPEAKER_00: Have y'all seen that?
SPEAKER_01: No, I think I saw a little bit of it, but I have I bought I I subscribe.
SPEAKER_01: I um I subscribe to a book um that I'm gonna show you.
SPEAKER_01: I um it's all natural remedies for everything, and I have literally been using it like it's called this is what it's called.
SPEAKER_01: Oh yes, yeah.
SPEAKER_02: Can you say I see a lot of different ones of those?
SPEAKER_01: Yes, yeah.
SPEAKER_01: It's old ways, and they and you go in there, you write in what you what the symptoms that you have for certain things are what you do, what you don't do.
SPEAKER_01: It has there's a question in there, and it tells you that's why it says my name on it, because it's for me, but I'm telling you it works and it's all natural, it's stuff you have in your refrigerator.
SPEAKER_01: Like, what you're like, I got that garlic and lemons, lemons.
SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, I have that, and water.
SPEAKER_02: Are you very good, yeah?
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so I'm good.
SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00: The pharmaceutical companies, in a lot of ways, are just they're they're only here for the money, they're out here killing us on the side, you know.
SPEAKER_00: So yeah, and that's why I do a lot of you know, our ancestors were living plenty long, simple, and doing well until yes, yes, absolutely.
SPEAKER_01: You are absolutely right, and they were living.
SPEAKER_01: I would say that because my grandmother was 94.
SPEAKER_01: My grandfather, my great grandfather was a hundred and something.
SPEAKER_01: Um, and he ate food, he he didn't overeat, he was very thin, tall, you know.
SPEAKER_01: Um, a lot of things now that I'm older, um, I'm really watching.
SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm like, I don't want that, I don't want that.
SPEAKER_01: If it doesn't have natural ingredients in it, and everything has salt, um, because salt is a preserve, right?
SPEAKER_01: But you can rinse the salt off.
SPEAKER_01: Yes.
SPEAKER_01: So if you buy something that has salt in it, I'm not really a big canned food eater.
SPEAKER_01: That I just am not.
SPEAKER_01: Um I can't either, but at one point we might have to kind of well.
SPEAKER_01: I mean, yeah, but I'm saying, and now you can can your own stuff now.
SPEAKER_01: You can do your own things now.
SPEAKER_01: So I I try not to buy stuff that I with ingredients that I can't pronounce.
SPEAKER_01: So I make everything.
SPEAKER_01: Yes, I make everything.
SPEAKER_01: Everything I make salsa, I make so frito, I make um the honey de John mustard, I make ketchup, I make freaking barbecue sauce, whatever it is, vinaigrette, my own, my own spaghetti sauce.
SPEAKER_01: I make everything.
SPEAKER_00: Next time we all get together, we need to do um uh like a cooking podcast.
SPEAKER_00: Yay!
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm down.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I love that for sure.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'll drink to that.
SPEAKER_00: Look, I can't it's water.
SPEAKER_00: Oh, I have water too.
SPEAKER_00: I have both.
SPEAKER_00: I'm double hydrating.
SPEAKER_00: I have to.
SPEAKER_00: I have to dehydrating and rehydrating.
SPEAKER_00: I have my water.
SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's good.
SPEAKER_01: My wine is in the fridge.
SPEAKER_01: I did it yesterday because I was like, okay, I gotta I can drink today because I have my doctor's appointment all the rest of the week.
SPEAKER_01: Oh, we're talking about old people stuff now.
SPEAKER_01: Well, that's not old because I know, but that's healthy stuff that will help you live longer.
SPEAKER_01: Yes, taking care of yourself, yes, absolutely.
SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
SPEAKER_02: That's that could be a part of your me time as well.
SPEAKER_00: Well, again, that's back to the challenges of you know, so like I said, maybe our listeners want to try one of our challenges or give themselves a challenge for a week, you know.
SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's something as simple as like drink an extra eight ounces of water a day, or what that's huge for some as well.
SPEAKER_02: That is for some people.
SPEAKER_02: Because you know, a lot of people are like, I'm not drinking no water.
SPEAKER_02: I know some people, yeah, that don't drink water at all, and they're like, it's nasty, it has no flavor.
SPEAKER_02: Oh my god, and then you brother, uh but but your pigas are my favorite drinks, honestly.
SPEAKER_00: Which one?
SPEAKER_00: Water?
SPEAKER_00: Well, and so the interesting thing about that too is um, you know, being uh delivery driver, and right now the heat, like we had some really high temperatures this week.
SPEAKER_00: We were up to in the upper 90s, but my the back of my truck can be like 120, you know, like that's where the packages are.
SPEAKER_00: And so last summer, I was drinking plenty of water, but I wasn't drinking, I was drinking electrolytes, but I wasn't drinking enough electrolytes.
SPEAKER_00: Right.
SPEAKER_00: And so the thing is if you are out in the heat, or if you are doing a job where you're sweating a lot or out in the heat a lot, or if your body is sweating a lot, you're losing not just water, but you're losing, you know, your electrolytes and and other, you know, vitamins and things in your body, so you have to replenish that.
SPEAKER_00: In the middle of the night with severe leg cramps, you know.
SPEAKER_02: I listen, I woke up to a charity whores the other day.
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
SPEAKER_00: So I'm telling you.
SPEAKER_02: That woke me up at six in the morning.
SPEAKER_00: If you're getting that, you need to be getting your electrolytes, getting your potassium from your bananas.
SPEAKER_00: Um, another thing that's really good is pickle juice.
SPEAKER_00: I would wake up with those cramps and go pedialite is great.
SPEAKER_02: That and I had nothing, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_02: Usually I get a Charlie, and I don't normally get them, but whenever I do, um, it just goes away.
SPEAKER_02: This one in particular stayed the pain stayed all day, and I had to go to work that day.
SPEAKER_02: So I was limping.
SPEAKER_02: Oh, it was really bad.
SPEAKER_02: And you can see the mark on my leg.
SPEAKER_02: You can see the mark on my calf of it of where it pulled.
SPEAKER_00: Oh, if that happens again, you need to try try the banana and try the um try the uh pickle juice.
SPEAKER_01: At least the pickle juice is really good.
SPEAKER_02: It's still it's dill pickle.
SPEAKER_02: There you go, people.
SPEAKER_00: Another tip.
SPEAKER_00: We have uh we always have pickles in the house because we're a pickle family, but um pickles, huh?
SPEAKER_00: The grillow pickles.
SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, those are so good.
SPEAKER_02: The wickle's pickles, they're spicy though.
SPEAKER_01: I always have wickles pickles.
SPEAKER_00: Oh, yes, yes.
SPEAKER_00: I can't find them that much here.
SPEAKER_00: Back to the wickels.
SPEAKER_00: I found them at Customers.
SPEAKER_00: Publix has them.
SPEAKER_01: Oh Publix has them.
SPEAKER_02: I figured I was gonna say that, Publix, because that's where I find the grills to them now.
SPEAKER_00: They got a little kick to them.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they have a they have a big kick to them.
SPEAKER_01: I don't mind it.
SPEAKER_01: Publix has the relish, the the um bread and butter ones, and the regular pickles.
SPEAKER_02: Listen, wickle saw, send us a check.
SPEAKER_02: Uh over there.
SPEAKER_01: I know, right.
SPEAKER_01: Hold on.
SPEAKER_01: Let me go get my pickles.
SPEAKER_00: Pickles.
SPEAKER_00: Get my wickels.
SPEAKER_00: Well, what I was gonna say is when we finish our pickles, I save the pickle juice for because of last summer when I would wake up with those night cramps.
SPEAKER_00: If I got real bad cramps, I go drink pickle juice and that would help.
SPEAKER_00: Wow, but this year I'm being proactive and drinking a whole lot more electrolytes because I just didn't realize the amount that I was really losing that day.
SPEAKER_00: So what, Pam?
SPEAKER_00: That the you lose a lot of electrolytes at night for sure.
SPEAKER_00: Well, during the day when I'm working on this is the relish.
SPEAKER_00: Oh but they see it's got the pickle and the pepper on it.
SPEAKER_00: So that's the one.
SPEAKER_00: This one is original, but they do have one that's spicy.
SPEAKER_01: It this is still spicy.
SPEAKER_01: The original is spicy too.
SPEAKER_01: But um, this is the regular one.
SPEAKER_01: But I know I couldn't see to send our podcast to Wickles pickles.
SPEAKER_01: Well, they actually had buy one, get one at public.
SPEAKER_01: So I had this one and I had the and I had the um pickle, the the bread and butter pickles or the pickle slices, uh the round slices, but it's that never stays.
SPEAKER_01: I I'm pretty sure when I buy these, I have to buy like four because I I'm always using this for something.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so it's wickedly delicious.
SPEAKER_00: It is really.
SPEAKER_01: They are really good.
SPEAKER_01: It really, really are.
SPEAKER_01: So okay, Wickles.
SPEAKER_01: We all have you.
SPEAKER_01: I my house always has that in it.
SPEAKER_01: I never I never not have that.
SPEAKER_01: So, and it's a good thing that I have a week left, so I won't cook anything that needs relish.
SPEAKER_01: Because I can't go shopping, remember?
SPEAKER_01: Right.
SPEAKER_00: Well, if it's a necessity you're allowed, you're just not allowed to frivolous frivolous.
SPEAKER_00: I can't even say it frivolously frivolous, yeah.
SPEAKER_00: But you know what?
SPEAKER_01: Everything I buy is frivolous because I don't need half of the stuff.
SPEAKER_01: If you look at my freezer, it's like, how are you fitting any of that in there?
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, filled to the freaking brim.
SPEAKER_01: But the two baskets on either side, the seafood side is filled, the chicken side is filled, and the two things on this side, they're filled, it's like fresh, like push clothes.
SPEAKER_01: So you need to get chicken.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, all the time.
SPEAKER_01: The only thing I say that I that I have um I don't really do is buy canned foods.
SPEAKER_01: Um I'd rather do the fresh, but I do have like chickpeas and um canned tomatoes, chunky tomatoes, um, stuff like that, because um, you know, I make my own tomato sauce and I usually roast tomatoes, but I have to have a backup can of tomatoes just in case I don't have enough regular tomatoes to roast them.
SPEAKER_01: So I have those, but they only have either tomatoes and salt or tomatoes and juice.
SPEAKER_01: They don't have anything else in them but that whole tomatoes or chunk tomatoes, but I either way with salt or not, because I don't really use that much salt.
SPEAKER_01: So either way, it's okay for me because I'm not like a big salt eater anyway.
SPEAKER_00: Learn how to jar and can stuff myself because uh like I threw a bunch of tomatoes out today because they were starting to go bad, and I'm like, even though our garden's little, it's producing so much, like I can't keep up with it.
SPEAKER_00: So I need to learn, and my neighbor does it.
SPEAKER_00: I need to take some time to go.
SPEAKER_01: But you know what's good for us with the tomatoes, like once once you start seeing a bunch of them, just take them, wash them.
SPEAKER_01: You don't even skin them, just take them, wash them, put some olive oil on the salt and pepper, put them in the oven and roast them.
SPEAKER_01: And then when they come out, the skin will come off, and you could just put them in a plastic bag, right?
SPEAKER_01: Tomatoes on there.
SPEAKER_01: Just put tomatoes on there.
SPEAKER_01: You don't even have to use them for anything, just so you don't throw them away and they're cooked.
SPEAKER_01: Just so you know, these tomatoes, when I get ready to make tomato sauce, I can pull this bag of tomatoes out and I can chop them up and throw them into the tomato sauce.
SPEAKER_01: As long as you do something to it.
SPEAKER_01: Roast them and freeze them.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, freeze them.
SPEAKER_01: Oh, yes, freeze them.
SPEAKER_01: Yes, I'll try that.
SPEAKER_01: Cook them and freeze them because then they're good.
SPEAKER_01: You can't freeze them because without cooking them, because then they'll be gross.
SPEAKER_01: But roast them, like even if you have carrots or potatoes or anything like that that's gonna get ready to go bad, or or you have too many and you think they're gonna go bad, roast all them suckers for real, and put them in the freezer.
SPEAKER_01: Because you can always take them out, and even if you pre-cook them in the freezer, I mean, pre-cook them as long as they're cooked, put them in, do that, and just label them carrots, cook carrots, put label them, throw them in the freezer.
SPEAKER_01: Then you won't have to waste anything because anytime you need something, just pull it out.
SPEAKER_00: Because my fridge and freezer will be clean by the end of the week.
SPEAKER_01: But then the thing is that you you know those will last for those will last forever.
SPEAKER_01: They'll last about a good six months or more because they're cooked, they're not not cooked, they're cooked, they'll last, so you don't have to worry about, and you don't even have to put salt in it because they're in your freezer.
SPEAKER_01: And at some point, you may have some unexpected company or decoder may come and you're like, I need to give them some vegetables.
SPEAKER_01: You're taking the bag out, you're throwing it out, you're throwing it, throwing it in a pan, or you back, or even back in the oven, season it, and I got vegetables.
SPEAKER_01: So easy.
SPEAKER_01: Even corn on the cob, the same thing.
SPEAKER_01: A lot of people like corn on the carb and it goes bad.
SPEAKER_01: What you can do with the corn on the cob is shuck it, take it off the take it off the rind.
SPEAKER_01: Um, you can boil it first and then take it off the rind, and then put it in a bag and throw it in the freezer.
SPEAKER_01: That's that's frozen corn.
SPEAKER_01: But it's frozen fresh corn.
SPEAKER_01: That way you won't waste it.
SPEAKER_02: That's nice.
SPEAKER_02: Tip with tips with ham.
SPEAKER_02: Yes, in the kitchen.
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we definitely will be doing a show coming soon.
SPEAKER_02: Yes.
SPEAKER_01: All these in the kitchen.
SPEAKER_01: Like, what am I doing with them?
SPEAKER_01: You know, yeah, but I'm saying that the only thing I feel like you can't do those with is stuff like parsley, cilantro, basil, those types of things.
SPEAKER_01: But here's another tip.
SPEAKER_01: You take those, all of those, those things, dry them.
SPEAKER_01: You you you um pat them dry, put a put a little bit of you, I would say salt, but you don't really have to.
SPEAKER_01: But or don't do it.
SPEAKER_01: Put some parchment paper down, take them, put them in the oven, and dry them out, and then you crush them.
SPEAKER_01: You can crush them, and you there's your season forever.
SPEAKER_00: Because I grow mint.
SPEAKER_00: Do the same planned last year I planted mint, like you can use for mint juleps and stuff like that.
SPEAKER_00: Right anyway, last year I planted mint.
SPEAKER_00: Well, I didn't know mint will take over your garden, it will go crazy, right?
SPEAKER_00: So this year I got it out of my garden and I just put some in pots, but there's still mint that comes up, so I have to keep pulling it out of the garden.
SPEAKER_00: And um, we feed our cats out in the garage.
SPEAKER_00: And like, even though we have a screen up on our garage door, we've been getting these little gnats lately because the of the heat and everything and the rain and stuff, and you know, they get around their cat bowls and stuff.
SPEAKER_00: So last night when I was doing that garden work, I pulled up some mint and I was like, I'm gonna take some of these leaves and crumble them up and sprinkle them around like underneath where the cat eats.
SPEAKER_00: But then I'll see.
SPEAKER_00: The gnats.
SPEAKER_00: You know, I'm like, I'm just gonna just gonna see that will this work.
SPEAKER_00: I went out there a day, no gnats.
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but then all my cats will still eat there.
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and so some of the plant I had thrown in the garbage can because I didn't want to throw it in the compost because I didn't want it to take off, you know.
SPEAKER_00: Right.
SPEAKER_00: So uh no gnats in the garbage can.
SPEAKER_00: I was like, there you go, there's another diva tip of the day.
SPEAKER_01: But you literally can, like you said, with the with the mint, you literally can do anything with mint, what even if you're cooking that requires mint, which there's not a lot of things that require mint, but like it's not just for drinks, people, right?
SPEAKER_01: But julep, actually, mint julep, you can freeze as well.
SPEAKER_01: You could take the mint leaf and put whatever seasoning or liquid liquid seasoning, I mean, and make ice, ice, you know, ice cubes with it.
SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, that's pretty too.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so you got all kinds, and and it'll be pretty, like you said, and then it'll and then it'll um once it dissolves, you got that lint, you got that mint there.
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I have um a lot of cucumbers growing.
SPEAKER_00: I took some down to the farm stand down in town to just share with people because I can't possibly eat that much cucumber.
SPEAKER_00: And I gave one to my mom, and um, I was telling her you could chop that up with some with your water because mint because cucumbers are supposed to be very hydrating too.
SPEAKER_00: But I was like, put some cucumber and mint in your water, or you could also cut them and put them on your eyes.
SPEAKER_00: In your eyes, or you can make pickles with that left double pickle juice with it, you know that, right?
SPEAKER_00: Well, I know, but yeah, cucumbers have to be too big.
SPEAKER_00: They should not be good.
SPEAKER_00: I think there's actually pickling cucumbers that don't get so big, right?
SPEAKER_00: You know, I mean these are full-size cucumbers, like I don't think they'd be good for you.
SPEAKER_01: They are so good for you, but cucumbers have a lot of good nutrients and stuff in it for you.
SPEAKER_01: Walter likes sliced cucumbers with tomatoes, uh that's good though, and red onions, and he puts just Italian dressing on it and it eats.
SPEAKER_00: I love that too.
SPEAKER_00: That's just a salad, basically, but without lettuce, yeah.
SPEAKER_00: Yes, I like sliced tomatoes and mozzarella, and yeah, uh, I got some fresh maple rose.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, heck yeah.
SPEAKER_00: Buschetta.
SPEAKER_01: Well, I can't go to the salt uh place.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: Can you go shopping for me?
SPEAKER_01: Because I can't go.
SPEAKER_00: Oh, she's gonna buy a loophole.
SPEAKER_00: I know.
SPEAKER_00: No, I'm not.
SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna be good, but I'm really waiting.
SPEAKER_01: I'm really gonna be good.
SPEAKER_01: Look, well, I gotta put my pocket.
SPEAKER_01: You mimbo somebody and I got money in my pocket.
SPEAKER_00: I'm literally going to it till next Sunday.
SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go put it in the bank.
SPEAKER_01: But that's good that I that I can't go shopping, really and truly.
SPEAKER_01: That's kind of good.
SPEAKER_01: That I can't I'm gonna be sitting here crying too.
SPEAKER_01: Well, go shopping.
SPEAKER_00: All right, well, let's wrap this one up.
SPEAKER_00: Uh I guess this is our we didn't really say what the topic was, but I guess it's diva challenges and tips.

Podbean
